Ingredients

Exact ingredient quantities can be found at the bottom of this page.

To make this low calorie apple crumble for one you will need:

  • An apple – You need one medium apple for this recipe. I love to use granny smith apples as they have a tender, crisp taste to them. I would also recommend pink lady’s or gala apples. You can use any apples you like though, just make sure they’re firm and not mushy/soft.
  • Ground cinnamon – Cinnamon adds a delicious flavor to the apple crumble.
  • Lemon juice– This recipe calls for a little lemon juice to add a little flavor and balance out the sweetness of the apple. You don’t need to add lemon juice but I would definitely recommend you do!
  • Stevia– Stevia is used to slightly sweeten the apples as well as the crumble itself. Stevia is the best 0 calorie sweetener to use for baking but there are a ton of other great alternatives too. You can use any granulated sweetener here.
  • Plain/all-purpose flour– This recipe calls for plain flour to make the crumble topping. You can use gluten-free flour for a gluten-free version. You can also use oats or oat flour here too.
  • Oats– Only a small amount of oats is actually required. It adds a delicious almost crunchy quality to the crumble.
  • Applesauce– The applesauce acts as a binder for the crumble topping. It is a super low calorie alternative to butter. You can also use low fat butter here but the calories will be a little higher.

Top tips

Measure carefully – It is so important to measure according to the recipe not only to ensure the correct amount of calories, but to also get the best results. Use a kitchen scale to measure and for spoon measurements, use the back end of a knife to level it out.

Eat warm– This berry crumble is made to be eaten warm (duh) but don’t let it cool too much. I like to give it a few minutes to cool just so it doesn’t burn my mouth lol.

Top with ice cream– I loveee this crumble with some low calorie ice cream. I typically go for the Halo Top birthday cake flavor. I know it sounds like it doesn’t pair well but trust me, it is such delicious combo!
