BOWLING

Strike into summer with the GEARS summer bowling camp. Lessons will include arm swing, four-step approach, targeting and spare making. Clearview Lanes staff will instruct. Ages 8-12. CHEERLEADING

Manheim Township Youth Cheerleading registration is open. Go online at mtyfa.com to register though July 31. The group is excited to announce Hailey McBride as its choreographer, and it has added some amazing new coaches to its staff. FIELD HOCKEY

Field Hockey Day is Sunday, July 21 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. AJ’s Field Hockey Camp is hosting a FH Day Camp from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for boys and girls ages 8-18 years old. GOLF

The Golf For A Cure Golf Tournament to benefit the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute is set for Sept. 17 at Crossgates Golf Club. The four-person scramble event begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $100 per person, which includes golf, cart, range, lunch, snacks, games, contests, raffle, 50/50. All proceeds will benefit all patients at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. GEARS’ 28th annual Four-Person Scramble, sponsored by R.E. Pierson Material Corp., will take place Sept. 27 at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg. The format is a four-person scramble with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $100 per player. Fee includes green fees, cart, lunch and prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit GEARS. The 24th annual Lancaster-Lebanon Wrestling Officials Association Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 19, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Pilgrims Oak Golf Course, 1107 Pilgrims Pathway, Peach Bottom. The cost of this four-person scramble event is $90 per golfer, which includes cart, greens fee, box lunch by Hess’s and beverages. The proceeds will directly benefit wrestlers in Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Regristration deadline is July 15. Checks should be made payable to LL Wrestling Officials Organization, or LLWOA. PICKLEBALL

Play pickleball to help make wishes come true for Make-A-Wish children with critical illnesses in local communities, including Lancaster County. Pickleball for Wishes will be held Saturday, July 20, at Smash Point Premier Indoor Pickleball in Mechanicsburg. Cost is $40 per person or $80 per team. Divisions include mixed doubles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles (in novice, intermediate and advanced categories). Medals to top three in each category. Free Papa Johns Pizza and Texas Roadhouse appetizer card. Prizes for most money raised. GEARS is offering pickleball lessons, set to cover everything a player needs to know to get started with the sport. This includes basic techniques, rules and strategies. All equipment is provided. Brenda McBride will instruct. Ages 18-plus. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 16-23, from 12:15–1:15 p.m. (beginner) and 1:15–2:15 p.m. (intermediate) at the E-town BIC Gym, 996 E. POLO

The Lancaster Polo Club will host regional matches most Sundays through Oct. 15 at Forney Field on Church Street in Rothsville, between Lititz and Brownstown, two blocks south of Route 772. Gates are scheduled to open at 1 p.m. each weekend and matches start at 2:30 p.m., weather permitting. Admission is $10 per person and children under 12 are admitted free. RUNNING

The F&M Track Club welcomes competitive runners to join it at the Franklin & Marshall College track at 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesdays for weekly track workouts. More information regarding other aspects of the club, including membership, is available on the club website at fandmtrackclub.com.

The Lancaster Road Runners Club invites runners of all ages and abilities to participate in its fun runs, held at 6 p.m. most Tuesdays, rain or shine. Information on the club and its activities may be found on its website, lrrclub.org.

SOCCER

Comet Soccer Camp will be held July 22-25. Morning and evening sessions are available for boys and girls entering grades 1-3 and 4-8. Instruction by Penn Manor boys head soccer coach, assistant coaches and current high school players. The camp’s focus will be having fun while learning soccer skills. Small group activities and practice games will be used to make learning fun. Concepts taught include dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and basic tactics. Campers will receive a T-shirt. SQUASH

Free squash court time is being offered at Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster. Rackets, balls and goggles are available to borrow, but indoor court sneakers with non-marking soles must be worn. Year-round times are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. No registration is necessary. SUMMER PLAYGROUND

The GEARS Summer Playground Program features trained program leaders to oversee supervised, quality recreation activities for children ages 6-14. Kids will learn social and physical skills through recreation activities. Playground leaders will create safe, supervised and fun-filled environments with activities including sports, games, arts & crafts and nature activities. Playground will run Monday-Friday through Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Elizabethtown Community Park, E-town BIC Church and Fuhrman Park EDT. VOLLEYBALL

GEARS is offering the Girls Middle School Volleyball Program, which will compete in a middle school volleyball league on Monday nights. Teams are for girls in grades 5-6 and 7-8. Dates are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 12-Oct. 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Bear Creek Gym. League play will be Mondays in September, with times between 6-8 p.m. Fee is $250, which includes league fee, league tournaments, uniforms and AAU insurance.
