BRAAAAAAIIINNNNNNSSSS!
If you have one of those plastic brain molds from the party store, you're going to need a good jello recipe to make your edible brain. This is an easy and reliable recipe using Jell-O® brand gelatin.

The zombies are hungry and need some tasty brains to eat. No problem! You just happen to have a plastic brain mold, so you can mix up an edible brain to feed those ravenous undead.

How To Make A Jello Brain for a Mold for an edible brain

  1. Spray the clean brain mold with cooking spray
  2. Mix the Jell-O with boiling water.
  3. Add some cold water.
  4. Add some evaporated milk (fat free).
  5. Add food coloring.
  6. Pour into brain mold (set mold in a bowl to keep it from tipping).
  7. Chill for at least 2 hours.

Why does the evaporated milk need to be fat free?

Milk that has fat in it runs a high risk of curdling. That may look interesting, but could interfere with how the gelatin sets up.

Where can I find a brain mold?

Amazon and party supply stores are the best places to find a jello brain mold.

What is the Best flavor Jello for a Brain Mold?

The peach flavor gelatin is not only tasty, but it has a light enough color to take on the food dye very well. Especially once mixed with the evaporated milk, which makes it opaque.

I want My Brain to Be Grey

Okay. You will get grey with equal parts Red, Green, and Blue food coloring (start with 10 drops of each, and possibly as much as 15 drops of each). You will need to take into account the color of the gelatin you are using.

It can be hard to get grey from Strawberry Jello (in which case I just make a bloody brain!).

Again, the peach flavor is good for this. If you have an unflavored gelatin, not only will it probably taste like brains, but the color will be easier to control. Though I doubt anyone will eat it, lol!

  3. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the Jell-o in the boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved.

  4. Pour in the cold water, stir.

  5. Pour in the evaporated milk (make sure it is Fat Free!). Stir well.

  6. Then pour the gelatin mixture into the brain mold*.

  7. Chill until set, usually at least 2 hours.

  8. To release the Jello brain from the mold, gently shake it to loosen it before inverting it onto a plate. It should plop down onto the plate. If not, shake it again and invert again.

I've made your Brain jello twice. first time I used orange jello, was a hit. I made it again tonight using lime jello and the color is awesome. This is fun for the kids and real easy to make.

Can you omit the “milk” for the same result?

It just won't be as opaque. You may need to add a little more water or some juice.

Hi, do you have any tips for joining two half brain jellies together successfully?

Maybe get those extra long toothpicks used for appetizers and stick several in one side, then join them that way?
