Prep time: 5 minutes

Serves: 10 - 5oz Jars

This is the easiest Vegan Yogurt recipe to make – the key ingredient is the Ripple brand vegan milk – it’s a plant-based milk that has pea protein. Ripple is the only store bought vegan milk I have found that can produce yogurt without the addition of thickeners, don’t try to substitute with another brand in this recipe – you’ll end up with liquid yogurt. You can find Ripple Milk at Target, Sprouts, Whole Foods and your local supermarket. The texture is creamy & the maple adds a lovely flavor and a touch of sweetness. I love having it with berries and granola for breakfast!

These are the 3 ingredients needed to make this delicious vegan yogurt.

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Cook time: 10 hours
  • Serves: 10 - 5oz Jars

Ingredients

  • 48 oz Bottle of Unsweetened Vanilla or Original Ripple Milk
  • 3 Tablespoons Silk Plain Almond Milk Yogurt, Ripple Original Yogurt or Vegan Yogurt Starter
  • ⅓ Cup Maple Syrup

Method

  • 1)

Place 3 Tablespoons of Silk Almond Milk Yogurt into a large bowl, pour in a splash of the Ripple Milk and stir with a whisk until it looks very smooth. Pour in the rest of the Ripple Milk, ⅓ Cup of Maple Syrup and stir well. Pour into glass yogurt jars and seal the lids on the jars.

  • 2)

Pour 1 Cup of Water into the Instant Pot and stack the yogurt jars into the pot (you don’t need a trivet). Seal the lid and choose the Yogurt option – make sure it’s on the Medium/Normal setting and set for 10 Hours. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving. Enjoy!

*10 hour incubation will create slightly tart yogurt, if you like your yogurt more tart, you can incubate for up to 24 hours.

Hi Van. I typically make soy yogurt but would love to give this a try. When I make soy yogurt I mix it all ingredients in the instant pot, cover and press the Yogurt setting. When that’s done I put the yogurt in a yogurt strainer for another 24 hours to release the water to ensure a thicker yogurt.

    1) How thick should I expect this yogurt to be as is?
    2) I don’t have yogurt jars like yours but I do have small glass containers with screw top lids (4 oz). Would those work if I don’t plan to strain the yogurt?

    Thanks!

Hi Tamara, the texture is similar to regular yogurt that you buy at the store (not thick like Greek yogurt), small glass jars will work fine.

It doesn’t mention it but do you have the milk at room temperature. I’m used to making yoghurt where I have to heat up the milk let it cool and then add the yoghurt starter so was just wondering. I don’t have an Insta pot so I would be making mine in a yoghurt maker. I am assuming it would be the same as a Insta pot. Any thoughts?

Hi Gisele, the milk doesn’t have to be room temp or heated beforehand. It’s the same for a yogurt maker.

Hi Jessica, you can use 2 probiotic pills, as long as it contains the typical probiotics used to make yogurt like: Lactobacillus bulgaricus, Streptococcus thermophiles, Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus casei (some probiotics can not create yogurt)

Hi Christina, you can use any sweetener of your choice. You can use honey, agave or even regular sugar. Just heat up a little Ripple milk and mix in the sugar until it dissolves, then mix that in with the rest of the milk.

Is it possible to use Silk Almond Milk Vanilla yogurt? And is it ok to use Original Ripple (not the unsweetened)? And if so how to adjust the amount of sweetener. This will be my first attempt at vegan. Thanks.

Hi, yes you can use Silk yogurt & original Ripple will work fine. You could probably just use half the sweetener

I made this yesterday. Did not change a thing other than my mismatched jars, lol. It turned out perfectly, not too sweet and I love the taste. Thanks for the recipe.

Do you have to use sweetener? Is it essential to make the yogurt set? Thank you.

Hello, you can omit sweetened in any yogurt recipe – it’s not needed for the yogurt to set

I tried it and it didn’t thicken. I may try again, adding more yogurt and incubating another 12 hours.
